I have been informed by my Dad that my great grandfather was the black smith at Ards House. The little blue cottage at the end of the lane, derelict now. But was still there about 15 years ago.<br />My Dad was born 1929, but the family had to move to Londonderry when the border changed. Would be happy to hear and further history.Kevinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12422085471843100903noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2705771450596300887.post-59971668952828164912021-09-04T14:10:27.578+01:002021-09-04T14:10:27.578+01:00Hello.. I found your piece on Ards House in Donega...Hello.. I found your piece on Ards House in Donegal interesting, having a strong family connection with the old house. My grandmother Bridget Sweeney, was Lady Ena Stewart-Bam’s maid from about 1902 and travelled with her to London for periods up until 1912 when she married Lady Ena’s gardener James Gallagher. They lived on the estate and had 10 children, the second youngest of whom was my mother. She was christened Bridget Ena Gallagher (Ena after Lady Ena). She moved to Belfast in 1948 and married my father Robert Livingstone in 1951. Mother went on to have an internationally successful career as a singer. She was known as Bridie Gallagher, The Girl from Donegal’.Jim Livingstonenoreply@blogger.com
