Both the grounds and the house were in a fairly decrepit condition in those days. There used to be a rundown tennis court at the side of the house – and the only place flat enough to kick a football around. We were all long gone by the time the National Trust bought it over. This place holds loads of great teenage memories. I have a copy of a land contract signed by Moses in 1880.
