The 12th Duke of Devonshire

It is interesting to note that the Duke of Devonshire has disclosed that he, the 12th Duke, would be prepared to disclaim his titles, were legislation passed by the socialists to remove the remaining hereditary peers from the House of Lords. The interview is in today's Sunday Times Magazine.

I'd be interested to know if His Grace's stance on the matter is shared by others; is the Duke "blazing a trail"; or is he quite out of step with his peers (an unintentional pun)?

The Most Noble Peregrine Andrew Morny Duke of Devonshire, KCVO, CBE, is the 12th Duke and His Grace's principal seat is Chatsworth House in Derbyshire; Bolton Abbey, Yorkshire; Lismore Castle, Ireland; and 4 Chesterfield Street, W1. As Lord Hartington his address was Beamsley Hall in Yorkshire.

1 comment:

  1. Clearly a degenerate. Perhaps the most noble Duke would wish to avail of the Peerage Act 1963 and disclaim his titles now; he's obviously not fit to hold them.
