Supporting Prince Charles

It is said that many people would like the Prince of Wales to step aside in his birthright and succession as Heir Apparent to the Throne in order that his elder son and second in line accedes directly.

This suggestion will, doubtless, be particularly upsetting for Prince Charles who has devoted his whole life in a kind of limbo, despite having created a fulfilling role for himself and the Prince's Trust.

Prince Charles's life has been spent in readiness to accede to the Throne as King.

I am proud, as are The Queen and Prince William, to support the Prince of Wales who shall assume the role and burden as King of the United Kingdom eventually.

  5. Putting my own feelings about HRH The Prince of Wales to one side for a moment...

The validity of HRH's marriage is questionable, as discussed elsewhere, which leaves us with a constitutional crisis waiting to happen.

I consider myself a monarchist rather than a royalist, and for the sake of preserving our Westminster system of constitutional monarchy, in which Parliament is sovereign, I feel we must consider the potential damage caused to the system by one candidate over another.

Ideally, God will see to it that Her Majesty outlives her heir apparent and these difficult decisions will never need to be made.

Failing that, it is up to Parliament to decide upon the succession: and the facts that HRH is in a civil marriage with a divorcee (whose husband still lives) and openly wishes to break the Coronation Oath by not being Defender of The Faith should be taken into account.

  7. My Lord,

Please accept my sincere apologies for making such a mess of the comments thread: I only wished to correct a spelling mistake in my contribution...

  8. Yorky, I fear we must beg to differ on the issue.

I wish Prince Charles and Camilla Duchess of Cornwall nothing but goodwill, generosity and benevolence.

I am in no doubt that HRH will take the requisite Oath at the Coronation.

I wish TRH a long, happy, peaceful and prosperous life.

  9. The Royal family are the symbols of our culture and heritage. Living in French Canada, I need to see a confirmation of my background. I believe Charles would try to be the best King in respect of his upbringing, and heart. Love William, but his time will come eventually.
