Castle Saunderson Visit

I paid a fleeting visit to Castle Saunderson on the 22nd July, 2013.

It reminded me somehow of Crom Castle in neighbouring
County Fermanagh.

Wasn’t it designed by the same architect?

The mansion is roofless and ruinous, alas; once the nucleus of a great estate in County Cavan.

The Saunderson arms adorn a section of the wall.

Thanks for the historical browse around the Pale. I live on its edge in North Westmeath and you’ve helped bring it more into focus

Thanks so much for posting these wonderful pictures. My 8th great grandmother was born at Castle Sanderson. (Magdalen Saunderson) and it is awesome to be able to get a glimpse of it. Makes me want to take a trip to Ireland. Again, thanks so much!
