Can you explain how it is decided which titles the Princes Charles, Andrew and Edward receive. For example, why Edward and not Andrew becomes Duke of Edinburgh.
They are the Royal Family and they can do what they like! The Queen is at the top of the honours pyramid, and can dispense titles as she wishes. VC
Prince Andrew is already a royal duke as Duke of York. Inheriting his father's title as Duke of Edinburgh in due course will advance Prince Edward in the peerage to the same rank as his elder brother.
