The Pen Shop
The Pen Shop, at College Street in central Belfast, is stated to have been serving the citizens for over seventy years.
Has it closed its doors for good?
I passed their premises this morning en route to the Linenhall Library.

Most of the specialised pen shops around London seem to have closed recently, too. However, there are a number of online pen sellers, such as www.cultpens.com, which keep a very wide range of interesting pens at reasonable prices.
Perhaps it could be confirmed whether the Pen Shop is closed temporarily or not?
Tim
As agent for the landlords i can confirm that The Pen shop has ceased trading and has handed back the keys
The premises will be offered To Let by McConnell Chartered Surveyors

Read a commentary recently that there is a growing demand (in N. America) for refillable pens in response to the fact that billions of plastic ball point pens end up in the landfill each year.
Sorry to hear about the Pen Shop. Suppose I'll now have to get my Montblanc refills and ink on the web. A real pity to see one of Belfast's landmark shops disappear. Makes you wonder who's next.
Yes, indeed. If a pen shop cannot survive on the High Street, what chance have other shops got? So much is going online, one wonders what shops we'll have in future... VC
There would appear to be a branch of The Pen Shop - part of a nationwide chain - in the House of Fraser - www.penshop.co.uk
Online shopping is one reason why High Street shops are closing and why we as rate payers will have to make up the deficit (a probable 4.4%) when the new distict and regional rate is set.The powers that be reckon that 4.4% represents all those closed up premises we see on our High Streets and shopping centres,3 alone in the Victoria Centre.
It's so sad Timothy. When I was at school it was a rite of passage and a privilege to be able to write with a fountain pen. I am honoured to have won a Parker Sonnet Black Laque fountian pen when my entry was drawn out of the Mail of Sunday Sir Lancelot crossword competition. Thanks for the info on where to get ink. You are a wee star. MMx
