The only son and successor,

LIEUTENANT-COLONEL SIR JAMES JOHN HAMILTON JP DL, 2nd Baronet (1802-76), espoused, in 1834, Marianna Augusta, only daughter of Major-General Sir James Cockburn, Bt, though the marriage was without issue.

From County Families of the UK:
Hamilton, Lady, of Woodbrook, County Tyrone.
Marianna Augusta, daughter of the late Major-General Sir James Cockburn, Bart. (who died 1852) by the Hon Marianna, eldest daughter of John, 13th Viscount Hereford; married 1834 Sir James John Hamilton, Bart., of Woodbrook, a J.P. and D.L. for Middlesex, and for Cos. Carmarthan and Pembroke (High Sheriff of Co. Carmarthan 1887, of Co. Tyrone 1860) and formerly M.P. for Sudbury 1837-8, who d.s.p. 1876. Plas Llanstephan, Carmarthan; Woodbrook, Co. Tyrone; 6 Portman Square, W.
The 2nd Baronet had an address at Plâs Llanstephan, Llansteffan, Carnarvonshire.

I have discovered a further entry which mentions the 2nd Baronet:
"Greys, Governor of Bermuda in 1811, Major-General and Inspector of Marines in 1819. He died in 1852. By his wife, the Hon Marianna Devereux daughter of the 13th Viscount Devereux, he had a daughter, Marianna Augusta who succeeded to the Jordanston estate, and married Colonel Sir James John Hamilton, Baronet, of Tyrone, who died in 1876".
In the 1870s Sir James's address was given as Portman Square, London; and he owned 1,283 acres in County Tyrone.

There is a memorial fountain at Portman Square  in memory of the 2nd Baronet.

I'd be interested to hear from any readers who have information regarding the connection between the Hamiltons and Woodbrook.

Sorry if this sounds a tad tiresome but Marianna's brother, the 14th Viscount Hereford, had a daughter Hon. Frances Catherine Devereux (19 May 1814 – 12 January 1857), who married George Bradford of Bradshaw's Brae near Newtownards. He was a barrister in London connected through his mother to the Hoare banking family. Hon. Frances Catherine Devereux was a lady in waiting to Queen Victoria and they lived for some time at Hampton Court Palace.

Timothy:
As you surmised in the Seaforde comment, Claude Hamilton was Margaret Hamilton's grandfather so John would have been her great-uncle. Another branch of the Hamilton line. Thanks for all the continued info you provide. Only so much I can get from peerage records and look forward to getting over to Ireland next year when I'm prepared to build on current knowledge base.

James John Hamilton son of General Sir John Hamilton had a brother called Rev.Andrew Thomas Hamilton he married Mary Hayes (daughter of Sir Samuel Hayes, 1st Baronet (1737-1807) of Drumboe Castle, County Donegal. I think they had no issue? Mary Hamilton
Widow of Earlsgift left a will dated 22 May 1849. For some reason they are linked to a family tree I have but of course they had no children, so my tree must be faulty ....

Hi,
I was wondering if you had any more information on the other children of Claud Hamilton (born around 1670, father of the James who married to Eleanor in your post). I believe he had a son named John who may have had a son named Galbraith, who may have had a son named Claud who had a daughter named Ann Hamilton (my 4th great-grandmother). I know from Burke's Peerage that she links up with this family, but I'm not clear between her and the Claud Hamilton born in 1670. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Jennifer
