It has been reported that BBC Northern Ireland is to lose between fifty and seventy jobs.
I have no wish to be unkind or insensitive; however, why do they require two presenters to run their Newsline flagship when one presenter is used on the national BBC News?
I say that impartially and do not "single out" any particular personality.

It's always been the pointless outside broadcasts which annoyed me. Total waste of money.

You can guarantee that the bulk of the redundancies will fall on those at the lower end of the pay scale and not the ‘talent’ that commands so much remuneration for so little real work. Your point of two presenters instead of one is an excellent example.11
A reason often given for maintaining two presenters - that was repeated on Friday morning's Nolan programme - is that it makes it easier to switch between very different stories. Jumping from a tragic death or horrific court case to a less serious story is a bit more natural when the voice explaining it changes too.
I quite enjoy our three local beauties on show on a Thursday night as NT prepares for the Politics show.
It would be a shame to loose that!
