The Pot-Walloper

I was undertaking a bit of research today and stumbled upon one of our more colourful nouns:-

POT-WALLOPER: one qualified as a parliamentary voter in certain English boroughs prior to 1832 because he could boil his own pot at his own fire, thus proving he was a householder.

When I first had the right to vote, I would say to people that I was now a pot walloper. Sadly they did not understand the historical context and came to entirely wrong conclusions.
