Frozen Pipe

I ran down the stairs and into the kitchen this morning and my first act was to lift the kettle in order to fill it with some water.

Ha ha! I turned the tap and no water appeared. It was frozen.

Instead I went upstairs again and filled the kettle with water from the tap in a bedroom.

Quite extraordinary. What are readers' reports of the temperatures this morning?

Check your pipes are lagged Tim. I am still suffering the effects of a second burst pipe within 3 weeks. One was lagged, one not. Been here 24 years and never had a frozen pipe before!

Thanks, Nick. I'll have a look.

I too am suffering! -13 where I am Last night.... fortunately its an outside pipe that carries the water away..... hopefully a kettle of hot water (not too hot) or a bit of heat from the garden heater will do the job.... BTW, happy Birthday!... J.

No water out of the hot taps this morning, although the cold taps are ok. Trying to decide whether to turn off the stopcock or give it an hour or two. Highly inconvenient. I'm unshaven and unshowered.

I live not to far from yourself in sydenham and have had no water for the last 2 day due to the same problem. Plumber has told me there is little he can do until pipes defrost!! Only joy is water is frozen on way into house and not in attic

Hoping it's on the way in, too, same as yourself!
