The young hooligans who start gorse fires are anti-social imbeciles and cretins; probably not much worse than their parents. They ought to be apprehended, brought before magistrates and sent to prison for several months, no matter what their age is. To my mind that is what should be done.

I wonder if it's deliberate, or it's just camp fires gone wrong, etc? I remember during school holidays trying to smoke out rabbits and once inadvertently setting alight a (not inconsiderable) stretch of hedgerow, quite a rattle!
Because I believe that parents have a huge responsibility to set good, moral examples to their offspring, which in many cases is clearly lacking in the UK today.

Gorse can be hard to light when it's damp; though, if tinder dry, it can swiftly get out of control.

even if the accusation is true, why cast aspersions on their parents without fact to back it up? sweeping accusations are the worst kind
