I always believed that the National Trust owns the Manor-house on Rathlin Island. It certainly features on their website.
The BBC describes Damian McFaul as "its owner".
I find the man's excuses for denying the royal party luncheon totally unconvincing, spurious and an insult.
Was the chairman of the National Trust in NI, Roy Bailie, present? The National Trust ought to start looking for new management forthwith.

If the NT own the hotel, this chap's behavious is - as you say - an absolute disgrace. He should be dismissed and deported from Rathlin forthwith.

I have spoken personally to the Regional Director's secretary two minutes ago.
The Trust owns the Manor-house. I have complained about the incident by email and verbally to the Trust and they say they are taking note of it!
Excellent. If he is employed as a manager by the NT, he has to go. I wonder, however, if it is just the building owned by the NT, of which he is the leaseholder and, therefore, in control of the business of the hotel. The latter would give him more rights.
Well done on the complaint, perhaps a campaign in the News Letter would be in order.

The latter, regrettably. He is the lessee, I believe.
